1. History of Subak Museum Bali

Bali is one of the islands in Indonesia that have thousand acres of rice fields. The widest rice field all across Bali is located in Tabanan. To manage the vast rice field, the Balinese invented a unique water and irrigation system called Subak. In Subak system, the water and irrigation Bali is done by creating five terraced of rice fields and also water temples.

The system is not only aimed to water the rice fields but also to mantain the sustainability of the ecosystem around the rice field. Even though this Subak was invented in 9th century, up until today Balinese still use it. The irrigation system is now worldwide famous and many countries have used this kind of irrigation system as well.
