History of Tirta Empul Temple

Tirta Empul was initially a sacred spring that is believed that created by the god Indra since he had been poisoned and affected to his power. The poison of Mayadanawa made him to pierce the earth and create eternal fountain to revive his powers. More than 1000 years the Balinese take the merits by bathing in the springs and it based on the inscription dates that found in the site of 926 AD. The visitors collect the water in bottles to bring home and it also main attraction with a stone-carved long rectangular pool that filled with Koi and the water is filled by 12 fountains of sacred spring.
